Spring is the season of hay fever and summertime is the season of homesickness. At least that’s what it is to me. The heat and humidity in both New York and DC is just unbearable over the course of entire four months and I long for that refreshing jump into the Lake of Zurich or river Limmat back home.

The Switzerland of the 70ies

It’s in moments like this that I reach for this hilarious little postcard book called Bikini in the Mountains that I want to show you. It’s full of nostalgia for the Switzerland of the 70’ies and boasts some gorgeous architecture and funny props that I only know from my grandparent’s home.

On How to Make Friends as an Adult – Episode 1

Having started a new life in a new city twice within the past two years I know about the challenges of making friends as an adult. Let’s face it, once we’ve left campus it becomes so much harder to make new friends – whether we still live in our hometowns or not.

Free time is not as abundant anymore and where else than at work do you see people on a regular basis? Okay, good for you if you are a soccer player or the like – but if you are not a team sport aficionado or a book club person or simply can not commit to weekly obligations my reporting from the front might be of interest to you.

Frank Lloyd Wright at the MoMA

Anniversary of an Icon

Frank Lloyd Wright is a national hero here in the US. Everyone knows him, kids learn in school about his work, so it came as no surprise that the exhibition opening last week drew a massive crowd.

The architect was born 150 years ago in 1867. The anniversary has inspired many events and special exhibits all around the country to celebrate his work and legacy.

Here I want to share a few things that struck me wandering through the exhibition at the MoMA in New York:
